The Elysian Dance Company
The Elysian Dance Company is East Cambridgeshire's newly-formed professional dance company. The Dancers are all professionally trained and also teach.
The concept behind the company is to bring dance performances of a high standard to the local area and to show young, aspiring dancers and their families, who may not have had the opportunity of seeing dance at a large national theatre, the chance to see dance of various genres- ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, musical theatre etc. at a local venue.
In addition to performances, the Elysian Dance Company offer professional workshops to local schools giving pupils an insight into creating a structured dance piece of their own or learning a repertoire piece that the dancers have performed. The workshops are designed to inform and inspire and are invaluable for those studying GCSE Dance, a subject which has been taught with 100% success rate at Octagon Studios for 10 years. One of the dancers in the Company currently teaches choreography and dance classes for this subject at the Studios.
Performances and Workshops
The performance repertoire is varied with the choice of traditional ballet excerpts, to pieces from musicals and new, original pieces specially choreograhped for the dancers.
As dance is continuing to evolve and develop, our workshops offer the participants the opportunity to discuss their own innovative ideas and learn how to develop them into a performance piece which can then be shown to parents, friends or school assemblies.
Alternatively the students can learn a repertoire piece to perform either alone or with Company members.
Choose from Repertoire, Choreography, Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre (including Tap if flooring is suitable).
The cost of a half day (2.5 hours) workshop with one teacher and a musician or two teaches and music on CDs: £225.00. Full day (5 hours): £450.00.
We will travel to your chosen venue or if preferred the workshops can take place at our studios.
